England and Surrey cricketer Ollie Pope joins Form 6 cricket academy - 28th February

The boys in Form 6 were treated to a visit by another sporting legend, England and Surrey cricketer, Ollie Pope.

It was a total surprise to the boys, so as they walked in to the ASC a number of jaws had to be picked up off the floor as they stared in awe of someone who has graced the hallowed turf of Lords, and indeed worn the 3 lions on his chest.

The boys quickly got to action, with all 3 nets in use and with plenty of boys to bowl the ASC was packed full of energy and enthusiasm.  Ollie was very quick to give each boy a little nugget of information that might help them along their cricketing journey. Towards the end of the session, Ollie was kind enough to go in the nets and let the boys bowl at him.  Having sent a few of them for multiple 6’s and 4’s, the boys started to call for the trick shots!  So the ramp, reverse sweep, and Dilshan all came out.  Then came the moment of the evening, when Joe bowled and Ollie’s Dilshan attempt was slightly off leaving the ball to hit middle stump and spark wild scenes.

Many thanks must go to Mr King for organising, and Ollie for giving up his time so soon after his return from playing in India.
