Form 3 had a very exciting visitor come to see them to kick start their learning on Ancient Egypt. David Gumbrell, a history lecturer and ex-headmaster, brought his game “Lost My Mummy” for the children to play. The game involved collecting ancient amulets and ingredients to make a mummy. Did you know that, we get the word “mummy” from the substance mumia which was used to preserve the corpse!
The boys were hooked straight away and they learnt about sacred objects and all about the process of mummification. The 2-player game was enjoyed by all and they even got to take home their own pack!
It was a brilliant way to get the boys thinking about Ancient Egypt and we thank him for coming to spend some time with us.
