Mrs Leach’s final curtain call!
The School Play, “Treasure Island” was not only an outstanding success, but also Mrs Leach’s final Aldro production.
It was play number 27 for her and (if you will excuse some suitable Stevensonian metaphors) marked 25 years of her hand at the tiller of Aldro drama. There were certainly no shipwrecks and it was a magnificent finale – full of precious treasure for us to remember!
We are all extremely grateful to her for her considerable hard work and inspiration not just in 2008, but for the past 25 years. Following the final performance, a presentation was made on behalf of generations of Aldronian actors by Edward Cousens, an old boy and currently Head of Drama at Westbourne House School, whose first steps along the drama road were in a production of “Powder Monkeys” in the 1990s.
A good number of Old Aldronian actors were in the audience for the last night and for the celebrations afterwards. Bravo – and thank you, Mrs Leach!
