Opening of "The Crow's Nest"
The new tree house has now been officially opened. Over 100 entries were received in the competition to name this wonderful new facility and after much discussion the winner was James Newcombe with the name “The Crow’s Nest”, which fits in well with both the building’s maritime theme and the birds that live in the tree. After James cut the ribbon and officially opened “The Crow’s Nest”, the first person to descend the slide was Mrs Aston, followed shortly afterwards by the headmaster. The climbing ropes, fireman’s pole, the bell from the SS Titanic and many other interesting things were used by the first boys allowed across to the island – who were those whose suggested names tor the house had been on the final shortlist. We will now look forward to making the best possible use of this innovative and exciting structure!
