Aldro to join Radley Schools Group
We are delighted to announce that Aldro will be joining Radley Schools Group in February 2027.
In recent years, Aldro has gone from strength to strength, building on its long-standing reputation as one of the country’s most highly regarded prep schools. This exciting new chapter for Aldro will bring significant benefits and further opportunities for pupils, families and staff, while preserving everything that makes Aldro so special.
Aldro and Radley share a mutual respect and belief in the timeless and authentic values of charitable independent education, providing exceptional opportunities for all our pupils. Through this merger, Aldro becomes part of a group that includes Radley, Barfield, Beeston Hall, Chandlings, Cothill, Kitebrook, Mowden Hall and West Hill Park. Together, these schools share a distinctive educational philosophy, blending the very best of tradition and innovation to develop young people of outstanding character with confidence and sense of purpose.
As part of Radley Schools Group, Aldro will continue to operate as Aldro, retaining its own brand, unique character and freedom to send pupils on to the most appropriate senior schools. Aldro families will continue to enjoy the school they know and love. At the same time, joining the Group will give Aldro the strength and capacity to grow and develop with confidence. Aldro pupils and staff will benefit from the wider pool of expertise, resources and opportunities that come from being part of one of the leading charitable educational groups in the country.
Radley Schools Group will build on Aldro’s recent successes, investing in the school at a level that would not otherwise be possible. This will begin with the proposed nursery and pre-prep, the ongoing enhancement of the school’s buildings and grounds, alongside an ambition to invest more widely in its facilities. In so doing, the Group will strengthen and extend the opportunities Aldro can offer its families, reinforcing the school’s celebrated reputation for excellence.
We are hugely excited about what this next chapter will mean for Aldro. In recent years, Aldro has flourished, most notably through the successful introduction of co-education and the award of a rare ‘significant strength’ in this summer’s ISI inspection. Aldro has much to be proud of, most especially its pupils, families and staff, who have made that success possible. Joining Radley Schools Group will allow Aldro to continue to build on that strong foundation, invest in the future and provide the very best education for its pupils, while retaining the distinctive ethos and character that help to make Aldro such a special place.
There will be lots of questions, of course. Please watch the video below and do read the FAQs on our respective websites to find out more. You can learn about Radley Schools Group on the Group’s website and by reading this booklet. We look forward to sharing more over the coming months as Aldro prepares to join Radley Schools Group.
