Teaching & Learning
At Aldro, we believe that education should inspire, challenge, and prepare pupils not only for senior school but for life beyond the classroom.
Our broad curriculum is carefully designed to provide academic rigour alongside exceptional opportunities in the arts, creativity, and sport—ensuring every pupil has the freedom to flourish.
Our academic curriculum is based on the Independent Schools’ Examination Board (ISEB) and National Curriculum (Key Stages 2 & 3).
From Form 5 (Year 5) onwards, learning is achieved through specialist teachers, and there is setting in subjects such as English, mathematics, French and Latin.

Pupils in Forms 4, 5 and 6 have additional lessons and preps in spelling and reasoning and this is to support their preparation for the ISEB Common Pre-Test, the assessment pupils sit for their prospective senior schools in November of Form 6.
Academic excellence is at the heart of Aldro’s ethos. Small class sizes and a rich, timetable taught by subject specialists, allow for tailored teaching that stretches and supports every child.
From the core subjects of English, mathematics, science and the languages, both modern and ancient (Latin & Greek) to the humanities and technology, pupils are encouraged to think critically, solve problems and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our teaching staff are dedicated to nurturing intellectual curiosity while preparing pupils for the academic demands of top senior schools.
Ultimately, Aldro’s holistic approach ensures that children leave not only academically prepared, but socially and emotionally equipped for the next stage of their journey. Our pupils develop a strong sense of self, an appreciation for others, and the confidence to meet the challenges of senior school and the wider world with enthusiasm and integrity.
